I am the founder and instructor of an annual application workshop for rising high school seniors.  Offered for the first time in the summer of 2009, The Empowered Applicant provides students with a nurturing and focused setting in which to work on their college applications with an experienced college counselor as their guide.  They create polished resumes, brainstorm and draft several college essays, master the jargon of college admissions, organize materials and deadlines, conduct mock interviews, finalize their college list, and much more.  

 

The goal of the workshop is to demystify the college application process, minimize the stress, and emphasize the adventure that the college search represents.  Students learn to articulate what they seek from their own college experiences, as well as what they offer to the colleges from whom they seek admission.
